Brown Belt

Brown belt now we start the run up towards black belt!

Kihon

Kihon represents the basics or fundamentals. As a brown belt you will learn:

  • Sanbon tsuki – stepping punch, double punch
  • Jodan age uki, gyaku tsuki , gedan barai – rising block, reverse punch, downward block
  • Chudan soto uke, empi uchi, uraken, gyaku tsuki, gedan barai – outside block, elbow strike, back fist, downward block
  • Chudan uchi uke, kizama tsuki, gyaku tsuki, gedan barai – inside block, double punch, downward block
  • Shuto uke, mai geri, nukite – knife hand block, front snap kick, spear hand strike
  • Mai geri, oi tsuki, gyaku tsuki – front snap kick, double punch
  • Yoko geri kekomi, uraken, gyaku tsuki – side thrust kick, back fist, reverse punch
  • Mawashi geri, uraken, gyaku tsuki – roundhouse kick, back fist, reverse punch
  • Ushiro geri, uraken, gyaku tsuki – back kick, back fist, reverse punch

Brown Belt Kihon (3rd Kyu to 2nd Kyu)

Kumite

Kumite is where you spar with a partner, you will be taught:

  • Jyu Ippon kumite attacking with jodan oi tsuki, chudan oi tsuki , mai geri. yoko geri, mawashi geri and ushiro geri.

Kata

Kata is a set of fixed moves. With each belt you will learn a new kata. For brown belt you will learn:

  • Bassai Dai

Once you have trained enough and have reached the required standard you will be able to grade to brown and white belt.
